Finalists in this year's Dominion Post Wellington region gold business awards represent a wide array of business skills in the Wellington region.
From game maker Sidhe Interactive to bus Mana Coach Services, the 29 finalists show the success and long-term potential of Wellington-based firms.
Dominion Post editor Tim Pankhurst said last night the paper was delighted to sponsor the awards. “As the voice of Wellington we believe we have a responsibility to support and champion our community and one of the ways we do that is through our sponsorships.”
Mr Pankhurst said that as a Gold Award judge he had seen first-hand “just how much emerging and established talent we have in this city and how hard it is to sort out the finalists”.
Gold Award project manager John Dow said the list of finalists proved the depth of creative and intelligent business activity in the Wellington region.
“Although 2003 will always be remembered for the outstanding business achievements and profile achieved by Peter Jackson and The Lord of the Rings activity, many other Wellington-based businesses have had international success and established long-term potential that augured well for the local economy.”
